Frequently asked questions.

  • There are a variety of reasons why now might be a good time to try counseling. You may benefit from counseling if you’re feeling overwhelmed, dealing with a life transition, experiencing emotional distress, or facing challenges like anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, or grief. Counseling is helpful if you feel stuck or feel like you need a little extra support navigating life.

  • I believe the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client is key to growth in therapy. Thus, I seek to create a comfortable space for us to approach the issues in your life with curiosity and compassion. I promise to show up with warmth, empathy, and a nonjudgmental listening ear. Clients often describe me as warm and relaxed while also direct.

You are the expert on your story so I will spend time getting to know you and asking intentional questions. You can also expect me to slow our conversation down at times as we try to understand what is happening in your body and the emotions you are feeling. From time to time I will challenge your thinking or offer a different perspective on a topic.

You can learn more About Me and My Approach on my website or by booking a free consultation.

  • The length of therapy can vary depending on the issues you want to work on as well as your own commitment to your growth both in and out of sessions. Every effort you make towards your goals is a step in the right direction!

  • I currently charge $140 for a 50-minute counseling session. I do not take insurance, but I can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company for a possible reimbursement. In an effort to contribute to equal access to therapeutic services, I offer a few spots on a sliding scale based on your income. For more information about my rates and services, check out my Services page or ask me directly by scheduling a free consultation.

  • It is not uncommon to feel uneasy in the beginning. Sometimes it takes a few sessions to get into a rhythm and begin to feel comfortable. However, if you consistently feel uncomfortable or our relationship doesn’t feel like a good fit, I would love to hear about your concerns and, if needed, make you a recommendation for a different therapist. I will work hard to stay attuned to when things feel “off” in sessions and lead us into conversations to help maintain your comfort and safety.

If there is a topic you aren’t ready to talk about, you don’t have to. In counseling, you are in control of what you share. Part of my job is to respect your boundaries and work with you at your own pace.

  • We can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation where you can ask me additional questions you might have and together we can determine if we are a good fit for one another. If we decide we are, I will send you intake paperwork and we can schedule our first session. If not, I can offer you other counseling referrals in the area. To get started, book here.
